Why does a GenerLink® installation cost $500?
Although the physical installation is relatively quick, a professional GenerLink installation involves significantly more than the time spent at the meter.
Our electrician typically arrives 15–20 minutes before the utility company to prepare the site and remains 15–30 minutes after their work is complete to perform final verification and testing. During this time, we go beyond a basic installation. We conduct a detailed inspection of the meter enclosure to ensure the entire system is safe and reliable. This includes checking for loose or improperly torqued connections, signs of arcing or overheating, conductor discoloration, incorrect wire sizing, damaged or cracked terminals, and other conditions that commonly lead to electrical failures. All connections are torqued to manufacturer specifications to provide a long-lasting, dependable installation.
Every installation is unique. Manufacturer and online demonstration videos typically show ideal meter enclosures with available terminals for the required neutral/ground connection. In many real-world installations, those terminals are not available. When this occurs, we supply the additional labor and materials needed to complete the installation correctly and safely—without adding unexpected costs to the customer.
The installation also includes the coordination and administrative work required for a smooth project: scheduling with the electrical utility, permit management when required, staging tools and materials, travel time, job documentation, invoicing, and customer follow-up. These are essential components of providing licensed, insured, and code-compliant electrical work.
Finally, we take the time to ensure you are completely comfortable with your new system. Before we leave, we provide hands-on instruction so you understand how the utility service, the GenerLink unit, and your portable generator operate together safely and effectively.
Our goal is not just a fast installation, but a safe, code-compliant, and educational experience that gives you long-term reliability and confidence in your backup power solution.
How can I reduce the cost of my GenerLink® installation?
We offer several ways to help you maximize value and lower your overall installation cost:
Group Scheduling Discounts
Coordinating multiple installations in the same area allows us to reduce travel time and administrative overhead—savings we pass directly on to our customers.
Two installations in the same area:
If you refer one additional customer located within 10 miles of your home or business, and both installations are completed on the same day, the price is reduced to $400 per installation (includes permitting and installation).
Three installations in the same area:
If you refer two additional customers—each within 10 miles of your home or business, and within 10 miles of one another—and all three installations are completed on the same day, the price is reduced to $350 per installation (includes permitting and installation).
Bundle Additional Electrical Work
If you have other electrical projects in mind, scheduling them at the same time as your GenerLink installation is the most cost-effective approach. By extending the onsite service window, we can distribute fixed setup and travel costs across multiple tasks, giving you significantly more value for your investment.
